ANNUAL AWARDS - 2024

Following the perceived success of the combined curry night and awards ceremony last year, the committee is minded to do the same in March 2025. Our club rules say the winners of the awards should be decided by the committee, from a shortlist of nominations.

The male and female winners of the Road Race and Cross-country club championships are all determined on a points basis, so we don’t need any nominations from members for those.

However, for all the other awards listed below, we are very keen for you to tell us who you think should be “in the running” for any or all of the categories, and ideally why.

{As its possible some of our more modest members may not wish to accept an award, you’re welcome to let us know a reserve nom .}

Please email your nominations to Pam - chairman.cirenac@outlook.com by 16th January 2025.

Here are the categories, in no particular order, where we would really appreciate your input.

1. ATHLETE OF THE YEAR - this award recognises not only high-performing athletes, but those who have also contributed to and demonstrated loyal support to the club.

2. LONG DISTANCE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR - where long distance here means marathon or above

3. TRIATHLETE OF THE YEAR - a club member who has achieved significant and impressive results in triathlon competition. (NB. this trophy is named in honour of Martin Archer, a member who tragically lost his life too young).

4. VETERAN ATHLETE OF THE YEAR - this award is for men over 40 and ladies over 35.

5. NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR - awarded to the club member who has achieved significant and impressive results and joined the club in the 15 months prior to the awards presentation.

6. MOST IMPROVED MEMBER OF THE YEAR - Awarded to the club member who has improved in training, races, personal standing including confidence and participation.

7. TEAM OF THE YEAR - awarded to the club team (3 or more members) who have made the most significant achievement in the year, not limited to running participation.

8. MEMBER OF THE YEAR - awarded to the club member who has contributed the most to the club throughout the year. This can include race results, additional involvement, contribution to and promotion of the club. (This is the only award Committee members cannot win).

9. TONY CURRY AWARD - awarded to the club member who has contributed the most to the club.
