Cirencester Athletics and Triathlon club 23 Feb 2020
After a super speedy start Dave Bell found himself in 5th place at the end of the Bourton 10k but his 102 second lead on Bill Leggate may have settled the score from last week's Cross Country. Bill, at 16th was followed in by Mark Sysum running well to finish in 30th place but the competition from Cheltenham Harriers was too tough for any team prize. Ian Barrett, Neil Corbiere, Simon Campbell and Brecht Grieten all packed in sub 40. First lady for the club was Kate Sackett whose 47.07 took yet another FV60 record having managed to work her way passed Karen Higuera, (who was 1st FV55), in the final stages. Super vet Gordon Jones shrugged off the serious damage to his hand and knees sustained with a nasty fall on a Thursday morning run to finish sub 50. Great to see 21 club members running strongly, braving the wind and ignoring the rain with many kicking off their competitive road running for 2020.

National Cross Country Championships, Wollaton Park, Nottingham
This iconic event brings together the best clubs in the country to battle it out at speed over some of the toughest terrain around. This challenging and hilly course was made all the more difficult by the sheer volume of runners and the mud, which was at times between shin and thigh deep! This year the conditions were unprecedented, being the muddiest on record for this course to date, but all CAC competitors soldiered on (staying upright!) and jumping over logs and navigating bogs to achieve very respectable times and all enjoyed the cake and atmosphere on the day.
