A great run by Sophie Chudley gives us the only result of the week but a very fine result it is – her sub 60 minute 14k giving her 31st place in a field of nearly three thousand running ‘down under’. The City2Surf traditionally runs from the centre of Sydney to Bondi Beach but in its 50th year it had to become “virtual” forcing Sophie to invent a lap which involved her battling “(i.e. walking) through the post-Nippers sausage sizzle crowd six times.” Sophie, who was a last minute recruit to team Amazon, was slightly disappointed with her running but 8+ sub 7 minute miles in the heat was enough to bring her home as 7th female and 4th in her age group. Hopefully she will continue to join us in CROSS events and, next year, have a chance to run the ‘proper’ City2Surf route including as it does the fondly named Heartbreak Hill.
City2Surf, Sydney, Australia, 14k (8.7 mile)

31 Sophie Chudley (Cirencester AC) 59.40 4th in age group, 7th female overall

CROSS STARTS THIS WEEK
There is lots more on the Website: https://www.cirencesterac.com/cross but for those too impatient to look, here are the CROSS runs planned for your delight between now and Christmas
By popular demand the structure of CROSS have been simplified somewhat but the database of amazing runs for us all to try continues to grow and all members are urged to share their rave routes with James and Ollie. We are also hoping to find a way for Dick Waldron to share many of the runs he has planned and mapped for the Thursday group over the years and possibly also some Cross Country laps in Cirencester Park. Lots more to look forward to – but input from you, the members, will continue to be vital.
Meanwhile , we are sad to report that Nea’s Masters course is proving too demanding for her to continue to provide major input but our thanks to Nea for all her help and inspiration in getting CROSS this far.
Finally the CROSS team looks forward to hearing about your adventures around Eastleach – just do it!!!
