Hurdle hits the hills and PB's a plenty at Cirencester parkrun

Cirencester Athletics and Triathlon Club 31March 2019

The Cleevewold, nr Cheltenham, 14.5 miles multi-terrain

Richard Hurdle led the team up and down the precipitous slopes behind Cleeve Common to climb over 2,500 ft in a muscle mashing 15 miles. He finished 17th in this toughest of local events. Lara Tompson and Tim Ingham (with a last minute place and tired legs from a run the day before) took time to chat and take in the misty views on a “training” run. They were followed in by relative newcomer, Elisabeth (Libby) Butler running her favourite type of event and enjoying time out of the gym.

1 Douglas Wight (Cheltenham & County Harriers) 1.36.57

Taking it shorter, but faster, was Dan Fitchett finishing the 5 km race in 15th place with a sub 20 PB, to be followed by Caroline Buck in 36th and Ruth Fulford making a resounding return from injury with a club FV70 record when coming in first FV65.

Isaac McAdam with juniors Sam Cook and Tom Prosser led the team at Cirencester but the dramas were all further back with PBs a plenty including ones for Alan McAdam, Rob Jones, Rachel McAdam and particularly a super impressive improvement from Rachel Barrow. Pam Wheeler also went well pulled round by Rachel McAdam to only fade slightly in the final stretch. David Moss abandoned escort duty at Swindon and so was ahead of Chris Prevett and Barbara Thomas for a change. Finally Ollie Campbell took it easy at Chippenham.
