Racing success and national championships

This weekend our very own club member Rob Forbes (ably assisted by wife Helen) organised the Coln Valley Charity running event with 10k, 5k and 2k distances, so it was fun for all the family.

Aaron Willis put in a strong performance to bring home a win in the 10k event on his rather hilly home turf, He was followed by Colin who bagged the 1st V60 spot and Gordon who won the V70 category. Great running guys! The CAC junior contingent also had a great turnout in the 5k and 2k races.

It was a beautiful sunny day and an undulating course in true cross country style. Traversing the parkland on longer than you would have liked grass, the course was a long one this year with 9k for the women and 12k for the men. James Thomas eased into the race and picked up the pace particularly in the last lap overtaking people throughout to finish in 50.24. In the women's race, Liz Thomas was pleased to feel strong and finish in 51.53 and not be last!
