Running makes you happy - its official

The vast majority of members running this week were parkrunning, with just one race that we know of (see later).

PARK RUNS

At a very muddy Cirencester, two members clocked up Parkrun milestones – 200 for Gordon Jones and 150 for Paul Timms. Congratulations to both.

And at Gloucester City, club legend Wendy Nicholls was in action for the first time in quite a while, supporting her sister. They're hoping to do one parkrun a month together, and whilst Wendy admitted to finding the going hard at a pace I'm guessing used to be her "easy", she was chuffed to be back running again.

Welcome back Wendy!

The only race we know of with members involved was a Christmas 10k in the grounds of Westonbirt School (not the arboretum).

Jack Bonnick did well to finish 8th in a large field, just getting inside 38 minutes for a new PB – great job Jack in not exactky PB conditions.

Angela Hilditch was also very happy to knock 2 minutes off her time from last year.

In other news, Liza Darroch reports that in the virtual AVR half marathon that was cancelled due to bad weather on 24th November, she is currently leading the FV60+, apparently ahead of local star Sharon Smith. [result subject to confirmation ;-) ]

Finally, here’s a fairly local race that the organisers have asked us to let you know about . If you want to read more or less of this type of upcoming race news, do let me know.

The 40th White Horse Half Marathon will be on 6th April 2025

“Usual course, same PB potential, the same really friendly marshals......and another White Horse Half mug of course!”

{Ed. I ran this twice several years ago, and have the mugs to prove it. It’s on quiet country lanes with no significant hills that I can remember. It used to be part of the Oxford county road race series so should be a decent quality field.}
