Teens compete at Year 7 National Schools and Inter-counties Cross Country races

Following good performance in the county cross-country championships (see earlier blogs), three of our Teens Group competed in national cross-county championships. The Inter-counties were held on 11th March and the Year 7 National Schools on 25th March, both at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough.

Running in these events were :

Joe and Robbie Stickney (both in Inter-Counties) and Ben Conway (National year 7 race), all ran in the Under 13 age boys category.

Firstly the Inter-counties..

Robbie (2815) writes:

Joe and I were surprised how crowded it was queuing to get into the car park, so many runners and supporters. All the team tents were pitched in the muddiest field, we slipped all over the place finding the right one!

The U13s was 3k and I got pushed back by all the other runners off the starting line and was dead last at the first corner. As the field stretched out and settled I was able to move up through the pack and was pleased that I finished without anyone overtaking me.

Under 13 Boys Inter-counties results

1st Thomas Thake, Yorkshire, 11:53

55th Teddy Spurr, 1st Gloucs runner, 13:10

188th Joe Stickney, Gloucs, 14:22

257th Robbie Stickney, Gloucs, 15:09

Secondly, the national primary schools year 7 race (also 3km)..

Ben was delighted with his 26th place on a very muddy course

National Schools' Year 7 Boys:

1st Oliver MacDonald, Hitchin Boys, 11:00

26th Ben Conway, Gloucestershire, 12:13

147 run

Good to see some muddy courses after some very dry cross-country courses over the winter, but....we're now training on the Kingshill playing fields!
