Following some good performances recently and some more information from our former records keeper, Dave Wright, I have updated the Track and Fields (T&F) records. Dave's input is invaluable, as he was reporting the performances when they occurred. For instance, although results report Bill's 10,000m record, it doesn't know that the race was a lap short (how does that happen!). Dave has provided some corrections plus additional Junior perfomances, which were missing, so that makes the records more complete, but does displace some current Juniors' performances, so in the short term, I am also showing those in italics. Importantly, it goes the youngsters something to aim for - never a bad thing! I will update the table to show actual records at the end of the season (October). See below for Dave's track information.
Also, I have been dealing with the records set at the Low Key Opens (LKOs). Unfortunatley, due to non-compliance of the track at Prince of Wales stadium to EA standards, the LKOs' events are unlicensed, i.e. unofficial. So I am marking these records with an asterisk (*). As I wholeheartedly support such events, it would be a shame if some excellent 'record' performances were not recognised in some way. Hopefully, children will also participate in "official" events, such as the County T&F Championships, so we will have "official records".
But there have been some changes due to performance improvements and not only the youngsters. I reported Ian Barrett's MV50 1500m record recently, but there have been other performances improving Club T&F records and not just me?
