Wild weather but still some racing

Off-road

Despite further extreme weather causing the cancellation of Cirencester’s parkrun and the closure of Cirencester Park for the weekend, the 3rd county cross-country event went ahead in Bath on Sunday with only a small contingent from the club - 4 brave juniors and Alex Banks who finished as follows:-

U11 Boys (1.9km)  12 Edward Knight 7.25 (6th Gloucestershire Champs)

U11 Girls (1.9km) 24 Poppy Wilson 8.46, 30 Alice Averies 8.55

U13 Boys (2.8km) 40 Toby Conway 12.45

Men (10.3km) 108 Alex Banks (Cirencester AC) 41.46

Road racing

In his last race of the year and in windy conditions at Castle Combe, Dave Bell was over the moon with his fastest 10k for several years. With a time of 33:25 he just missed out on the podium, finishing 4th in a field of over 500.  And as an added bonus, the “Christmas Chilly” medal flashed too!

Parkruns 7th December

As with the XC, only a hardy few managed a parkrun this weekend. The Swindon course was merely “challenging” according to the McAdam’s, whereas Phil Davey reported more graphically “fantastically terrible weather with unusual combination of mad wind driving heavy rain in storm conditions” in Northolt.

Lydiard Park, Swindon:

73 Alan McAdam 27.45,

79 Gordon Jones 28.09,85 Rachel McAdam 28.53

Northala Fields, Northolt, London: 101 Phil Davey 27.07.
